Safe Use of Equipment with Competency Assessment
Aims of this course
During this course you will learn:
- Manual handling (The Legal Aspects)
- The body and what can go wrong during manual handling
- Principles of safe moving & handling
- Practical training and competency assessment of various manoeuvres used in the workplace
- How to maintain cleanliness
- Understand Maintenance requirements
Purpose
The purpose of the qualification is to develop learners’ knowledge and allow learners to demonstrate skills competency when using equipment to enable to movement and transfer of individuals reliant on support and care to meet their daily needs. The learner will be expected to continue to demonstrate safe practice and consider posture and the safety of the person they are moving at all times following this course and will require a yearly competency assessment to maintain this qualification.
Entry Requirements
There are no specific entry requirements however learners should have a minimum of level one in literacy and numeracy or equivalent.
The qualification is suitable for learners of 16 years of age and above.
Progression
Successful learners can progress to other qualifications such as:
- Level 3 Diploma in Healthcare Support (RQF).
- Level 2 Diploma in Care (RQF)
- Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care (RQF)
